Its time to register your little one to begin their new learning journey into our kindergarten program for September 2024!

Crescent Valley School is proud to offer exemplary early childhood programming. Our meaningful play-based learning approach in our full-time kindergarten classroom promotes social and emotional learning, empathy, language, communication, physical activity, literacy, numeracy, inquiry and exploration . We strive to develop individual growth and positive self-image while supporting togetherness and social skills. 

Our early learners are loved members of our CVS community and have all the support and services available to students in our elementary programs including:

-a certified teacher to program learning experiences

-opportunites to interact with older students

-large gymnasium and equipment to keep physically active 

-library session to grow a love of reading

-special presentations, speakers and celebrations. 

-early intervention support and resources such as speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, and family-school liaison counselor. 

Our kindergarten program at Crescent Valley School values this exciting time in your child's life. The child-centered approach focuses on providing instruction and opportunities for a foundation in your child's education. We work together to ensure all children feel safe, loved, and respected in our environment. CVS fosters inquiry and self-discovery alongside researched early childhood educational best practices.

Our instruction includes:

-Decoding (Jolly Phonics)

-Alphabetic Principle and Formation (Learning Without Tears)

-Literacy Knowledge & Print Concepts (Flyleaf)

We are excited to welcome you to our school in the fall. Prior to the first day of school, you will receive a phone call to inform you of everything you need to know before you child begins. Get ready to talk, read, create, and play everyday. We are now accepting registrations for the upcoming year.

Important Resources for ‘Getting Ready to Learn’


When Can My Child Start Kindergarten?
To register for Kindergarten in the 2024/25 school year, your child must be five years old on or before December 31, 2024. 

Important Dates
To assist in our planning for next year, we encourage families to register their new Kindergartners, and make transportation arrangements if needed, by the end of May.

Open House date April 16, 2024

Win a Chromebook 

Make sure to register for Junior Kindergarten or Kindergarten before April 30, 2024, for a chance to win a Chromebook for your family. All registrations confirmed prior to April 30th will be entered into a draw to win a Chromebook. Once winners are confirmed and announced, Chromebooks will be delivered after September 30th to be distributed to the lucky winners.

Programming Options
Our Kindergarten classrooms provide literacy-rich, play-based programming which is led by welcoming and dedicated early childhood teachers and enthusiastic educational assistants.

In addition, all of our early learners have access to our division’s School Linked Team to help your child succeed. This team’s dedicated members include a speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, behavior consultant, literacy/early learning lead teacher, technology lead teacher, and a Family School Liaison Counselor.  

Student Transportation
For our Kindergarten students, we offer no-cost transportation fees for our families as children transition into their first year of schooling. We invite you to contact our transportation department directly to learn more or get started early to reserve your child’s seat on the bus by registering online.

Family Involvement
Family engagement is one of our priorities at Crescent Valley School as your involvement is a key component in the success of your child's learning. We encourage you to get involved in your school community such as joining the School Council at your school, volunteering at our school, or by talking with your child’s teacher.
