Our Family/School Liaison Counselor (FSLC) is a specially trained, school-based supportive counsellor. They work primarily one-on-one with students who are experiencing emotional/behavioural challenges in school.
Our FSLC can help with:
- Mental health concerns like anxiety and depression
- Grief and loss struggles including death, loss and divorce
- Social skill development and support in positive peer relationships
- Suicidal ideation, threat assessment, crissis management, and safety planning
Our FSLC aims to:
- Identify concerns
- Set working goals
- Teach coping skills, social skills, and mindfulness strategies
- Aid the family in supporting their child through community referrals and resource sharing
They can also faciliate small groups and provide teachers strategies to use in class.
